Barcelona claim vital away win in Paris

Lionel Messi scored a stunning free-kick as Barcelona came from behind to beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.

The French champions had taken an early lead through Edinson Cavani, but Luis Suarez equalised before half-time following a mistake by PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

Neymar put PSG back in front with a superb individual goal, but Messi levelled again with a brilliant free-kick from 25 yards out.

Suarez then completed the turnaround with a header from Sergi Roberto's cross in the 88th minute to give Barcelona a slender advantage heading into the second leg at the Camp Nou on March 8.

Barcelona maintain perfect start to La Liga season

Barcelona extended their perfect start to the La Liga season with a 1-0 win over Las Palmas on Sunday.

The only goal of the game came from Luis Suarez in the 47th minute, as the Uruguayan striker headed home a cross from Jordi Alba.

Barcelona have now won all nine of their league games this season and have a five-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.
